USDT on TRON without TRX, TON, and live deposits

appapi
// shippedthree days, three changes: TRON stopped needing TRX, TON became the third network, and deposits started showing up in seconds.

usdt on tron, no trx

USDT on TRON now moves without TRX. we moved TRON onto GasFree, the network's official gasless protocol: you sign a permit on your device, the transfer lands on-chain in seconds, and the network fee is taken in USDT inside the same transaction. you never buy, hold or top up TRX.

in the app, a TRON send costs 1.50 USDT in network fee and nothing from us, plus 1.50 USDT once, on your first send, to activate the account. the confirm screen shows both lines apart, and the activation line goes away once it's paid. in the API, sweeps and withdrawals on TRON run on the same rail, and the deposit address you hand out is the gasless account. the app shipped this on july 11 and the API on july 12; the app was still in private testing, the API was live for business accounts.

ton, the third network

TON became the third network, after Solana and TRON, for USDT. same 12 words, one more address: the app derives your TON wallet from the recovery phrase you already have, so there's nothing new to back up.

in the app, sending USDT on TON costs $2 flat, taken from the USDT you send. we pay the TON for gas, so you never hold any. the amount you type is the amount that arrives, and the fee is on the confirm screen before anything leaves.

in the API, TON joined hotwallets, child addresses, sweeps and withdrawals on july 12, with the same endpoints as the other networks and ton as the network. deposits to TON child addresses fire the same deposit.confirmed webhook. the app later started labeling this network gram (ton).

deposits in seconds

deposits are now picked up the moment the network reports them, instead of waiting for the next scan. every address we watch on Solana, TRON and TON is subscribed to notifications from the chain, and the balance updates in seconds.

in the app, the number on the home screen moves, a push notification arrives and the deposit shows in activity, usually before you've put the phone down. in the API, the deposit.confirmed webhook for child addresses goes out at the same speed.

amounts are always read from the chain itself, never taken from the notification. a background scan keeps running as a safety net, so a missed notification means a slower deposit, never a lost one.

fixes and improvements

  • TRON addresses are checked before sending: one wrong character, or a Solana address pasted by mistake, is refused.
  • the TRON confirm screen shows the transfer fee and the one-time activation as separate lines.
