usdt0 on arbitrum: the usdt that lives there.

// tl;dr on Arbitrum, USDT is USD₮0 (written USDT0). in early 2025 the USDT contract that already lived on Arbitrum was upgraded in place into USDT0, the omnichain version of Tether's dollar: same address, same balances, nothing for holders to do. each USDT0 is backed 1:1 by USDT locked on Ethereum and moves between networks through LayerZero. the one contract to trust is 0xFd086bC7CD5C481DCC9C85ebE478A1C0b69FCbb9. in dolaramp it shows up labelled usdt0 when you receive or send on Arbitrum, and counts as USDT in your balance.

what usdt0 is

USDT0 is the omnichain deployment of USDT. the mechanism is simple and public:

  • lock: real USDT is locked in an adapter contract on Ethereum mainnet.
  • mint: the same amount of USDT0 is minted on the destination network. the backing is strict 1:1 against what sits locked on Ethereum.
  • move: going from one USDT0 network to another burns on one side and mints on the other, using LayerZero's OFT (omnichain fungible token) standard. there is no liquidity pool in the middle, so no slippage.

USDT0 is run by Everdawn Labs, the company behind usdt0.to, on top of LayerZero. Tether treats it as the way USDT reaches new networks: in February 2026 Tether announced a strategic investment in LayerZero Labs, describing it as the infrastructure used by USD₮0. on 18 aug 2026, DefiLlama data showed Arbitrum as the largest USDT0 network, with about $0.85 billion, roughly a quarter of all USDT0 in circulation.

why it replaced the old usdt on arbitrum

before 2025, the USDT on Arbitrum was a bridged token: USDT from Ethereum, represented on Arbitrum by a contract that only knew one route, back to Ethereum. moving it to any other network meant going through someone else's bridge.

instead of launching a second USDT next to it, that contract was upgraded. the upgrade was audited by OpenZeppelin (report dated 29 jan 2025) and rolled out between january and february 2025. the key points:

  • in-place upgrade. the contract sits behind an upgradeable proxy, so the address did not change. every existing balance simply became USDT0.
  • no action for holders. since the address and the balances stayed, wallets, exchanges and DeFi apps kept working with the same token.
  • new features. besides plain ERC-20, the upgraded contract supports EIP-2612 (permit) and EIP-3009 (transferWithAuthorization), which is what makes gasless sends possible.

that is the big difference from how USDC went on Arbitrum. when Circle launched native USDC there in 2023, the old bridged USDC stayed alive as a separate token and was renamed USDC.e (0xff97…5cc8). so for USDC there are two tokens and you have to pick the right one. for USDT there is only one: USDT0.

the USDT0 address is the one listed in USDT0's own deployment docs. the adapter contract used for cross-network moves (0x14E4…8D92) is a different thing: you never hold a balance there and should never send to it.

how it looks in dolaramp

dolaramp only reads the issuer's contract on each network, never a third-party wrapped or pegged version. USDT0 is the one exception to "issuer's own mint", and only because on Arbitrum it is the canonical USDT. that is why the app labels it instead of hiding it:

  • receive: pick arbitrum and the screen lists the tokens that address accepts: usdc and usdt0.
  • send: on arbitrum the token pill reads usdt0, so the name matches what exchanges show.
  • balance: it counts as USDT in your total. it is the same dollar.
  • same address as base: your Arbitrum address is the same 0x address you use on Base.

sending USDT0 is gasless: no ETH needed. the fee is the same $2 per send as on Solana, Base and TON, shown before you confirm; receiving is free. for businesses, sweeps and withdrawals of USD₮0 on Arbitrum through the API cost $0.10 on free and $0.05 on pro. everything is on pricing, and every contract the app reads is on contracts.

before you send: what to check

  • the network is part of the address. an Arbitrum USDT0 withdrawal and a TRON USDT withdrawal are different routes. when you withdraw from an exchange, pick Arbitrum One; some exchanges add "(USDT0)" to the network name.
  • one 0x address, many chains. because your address is the same on every EVM network, someone can send USDT on Ethereum, BNB Chain or Polygon to it. dolaramp only reads the tokens on its list, so that money won't show up in the app. ask the sender to use Arbitrum.
  • check the contract, not the name. anyone can deploy a token called "USDT0". only 0xFd08…FCbb9 is real. paste any address in our address checker to see its real balances.
  • no usdt0 on base. in dolaramp, Base holds USDC only.
  • the in-app bridge moves USDC, not USDT0. today the app's bridge moves USDC between Solana, Base and Arbitrum; USDT is marked "coming soon". see how to move USDC between networks.
  • know the extra layer. a USDT0 token depends on the USDT locked on Ethereum and on the LayerZero messaging and operator that run the mesh. that is how Tether's own omnichain setup works; it is worth knowing, not a reason to panic.

faq

Is USDT0 the same as USDT?

It is USDT in its omnichain form: each USDT0 is backed 1:1 by USDT locked on Ethereum. On Arbitrum it is the only USDT, and dolaramp counts it as USDT in your balance.

What is the USDT0 contract on Arbitrum?

0xFd086bC7CD5C481DCC9C85ebE478A1C0b69FCbb9, the address listed in USDT0's deployment docs. It is the same address the old USDT had before the 2025 upgrade.

Did I have to do anything when USDT became USDT0?

No. The contract was upgraded in place, so the address and the balances stayed the same.

Can I move USDT0 to another network inside dolaramp?

Not yet. The in-app bridge moves USDC between Solana, Base and Arbitrum today; USDT is marked as coming soon.
